Welcome Message[edit]

Welcome[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! --Apisite (talk) 18:49, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Korean Edits[edit]

Hey, first of all thank you for contributing to Korean entries on Wiktionary.

(ol) was nice, love the word because of it's weird shape so thanks for adding that, but maybe the translation was too Naver. IDK what the consensus about that was but still scary.

Anyhoo, to get started, your middle Korean contribution on pwozo. In etymology, we don't use the Native Korean Word template in MK entries because well it's intended for Korean ones and creates the necessary categories. Also, 보시기 does not seem to be a direct descendant + it possibly has additional morphemes because of the ㄱ there.

For (byeong), the dialectal synonyms either go in Alternative forms header or see the entry of 누이 (nu'i). Additional note on this, Jeju is its own language and should not be included in the synonyms, instead maybe the Etymology as a cognate unless it's borrowed into the language. Plus many dialectal words have additional morphemes.

And at last, phrases like 과거 시제, 과거 완료, 미래 완료, etc. are, as far as I'm aware, spaced in the standard language (표준어).

Anyways, that's it :) (idk how to finish this so Imma just boop out wooo~) -Solarkoid (talk) 23:24, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

გამარჯობა!
thank you so much for the reply
i am ashamed to say that after years on this site i am still not very used to dealing well with templates and sometimes i just don't understand how it works, thank you for pointing out all these mistakes Smartyfarty111 (talk) 02:33, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
somehow my reply got cut? i wanted to thank for the interest, and add that 옰 made me fall in love how it looks like ahah, but as for translation and etymology, i only found actually the Naver entry ahah; as for 보시기, i think it's maybe a diminutive there? and as for Jeju, of course it's a language of its own, my bad! Anyway, thank you so much for reaching out, fellow wiktionarer! and for pointing out my mistakes, i will try to be more careful and precise. madloba! Minor edits[edit]

Hi - please don't mark edits like this one as minor. Minor edits are things like correcting typos. Theknightwho (talk) 11:36, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

thank you for this correction! pardon for the mistakes Smartyfarty111 (talk) 11:52, 14 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Headword templates[edit]

These are required for every part-of-speech section in every entry- even alternative forms and inflected forms. Also, {{ko-etym-native}} is designed for modern Korean, so it gets the categories wrong when you use it for Middle Korean: for instance, Middle Korean (khuy) is in Category:Korean terms inherited from Middle Korean. You may have to use |nocat=1 for Middle Korean entries. I really shouldn't be editing Korean or Middle Korean entries (I can only read a little bit of Hangul}}), but your entries are showing up in the abuse filter logs and places like Wiktionary:Todo/Lists/Derivation category does not match entry language. Please fix your current entries and make sure to do new entries correctly. Thanks! Chuck Entz (talk) 05:22, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
