The Indo-European root is also the source of Ancient Greek πυνθάνομαι (punthánomai, learn), Sanskrit बुध्यते (búdhyate, wake), Old Church Slavonic бъдети (bŭdeti) (Russian буди́ть (budítʹ, wake)), Lithuanian budėti (awake).
