Sometimes alternatively read as "ninbuta", which is said to be a corrupted compound of (にん) (nin), the first kanji in "Nintendo", and 仏陀(ぶつだ) (butsuda, Buddha), from the perception of Nintendo fans as religiously devoted to the company.[1]
