  • Used in phrases with the literary particle :—
    (おも)まま()きるomou ga mama ni ikiruto live freely (in accordance with whatever one thinks)
    ()ままwagamama(doing) as one wants to — selfish
    ()われるままiwareru ga mama(doing) as one is told
  • For sense 3, …とも (... to mo mama yo) or …と (... to mama yo) was mostly used in the past.
