  1. (archaic) the Six Arts which form the basis of education in ancient Chinese culture, namely rites (), music (yuè), archery (shè), charioteering (), calligraphy (shū) and mathematics (shù)
  2. (archaic) the Six Classics 六經六经 (liùjīng)
  3. (archaic) the Six Styles of Calligraphy initiated during the reign of Wang Mang, founder of the Xin dynasty, namely pre-Qin script 古文 (gǔwén), non-traditional script 奇字 (qízì), seal script 篆書篆书 (zhuànshū), clerical script 左書左书 (zuǒshū), stamping script 繆篆缪篆 (móuzhuàn, miùzhuàn) and bird-worm seal script 鳥蟲書鸟虫书 (niǎochóngshū)
