- (archaic) the Six Arts which form the basis of education in ancient Chinese culture, namely rites 禮/礼 (lǐ), music 樂/乐 (yuè), archery 射 (shè), charioteering 御 (yù), calligraphy 書/书 (shū) and mathematics 數/数 (shù)
- (archaic) the Six Classics 六經/六经 (liùjīng)
- (archaic) the Six Styles of Calligraphy initiated during the reign of Wang Mang, founder of the Xin dynasty, namely pre-Qin script 古文 (gǔwén), non-traditional script 奇字 (qízì), seal script 篆書/篆书 (zhuànshū), clerical script 左書/左书 (zuǒshū), stamping script 繆篆/缪篆 (móuzhuàn, miùzhuàn) and bird-worm seal script 鳥蟲書/鸟虫书 (niǎochóngshū)
