Etymology[edit]

The Buddhism sense is a translation of Sanskrit श्रोत्रेन्द्रिय (śrotrendriya, sense or organ of hearing). The Tibetan equivalent is རྣ་བའི་དབང་པོ (rna ba'i dbang po).
