Etymology[edit]
From 見 (mi, “seeing”, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 見る (miru, “to see”).) + 殺し (koroshi, “killing”, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 殺す (korosu, “to kill”).). The koroshi changes to goroshi as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
