Korean[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From earlier 남비 (nambi) (1938), which is borrowed from Japanese 鍋 (nabe, “pot”). The pronunciation shift was due to regressive assimilation by the second vowel ㅣ (i). Standardized in 1988.
Pronunciation[edit]
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [nɛmbi] ~ [ne̞mbi]
- Phonetic hangul: [냄비/넴비]
