From 𐰾𐰇𐰭 (süŋ-, to pierce) +‎ 𐰏 (-üg) itself inherited from Proto-Turkic *süŋ- (to pierce, to war). Cognate with 𐰾𐰇𐰭𐱁 (süŋüš, battle, war), 𐰾𐰇𐰭𐱁 (süŋüš-, to fight, to war).
