From 𐰾𐰇𐰭 (süŋ-, to pierce) +‎ 𐱁 (-üš) itself inherited from Proto-Turkic *süŋ- (to pierce, to war). Cognate with 𐰾𐰇𐰭𐱁 (süŋüš-, to fight, to war), 𐰾𐰇𐰭𐰏 (süŋüg, lance, spear).
