From 𐰾𐰇𐰭 (süŋ-, “to pierce”) + 𐱁 (-üš) itself inherited from Proto-Turkic *süŋ- (“to pierce, to war”). Cognate with 𐰾𐰇𐰭𐱁 (süŋüš-, “to fight, to war”), 𐰾𐰇𐰭𐰏 (süŋüg, “lance, spear”).
