Etymology[edit]

@AryamanA What do you think about the etymology? śāvaka > chāka > chākar (somehow the r/l came) > chaur > chawar > sawal > sual (Poor arrangement though) Sagir Ahmed Msa (talk) 18:01, 21 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Sagir Ahmed Msa: -r/-l extensions are quite common, so that's fine. But śāvaka(ra) would lead to sokrā in Hindi, not छोकरा (chokrā), so I don't think śāvaka will work. But Turner's dictionary reconstructs *chokara, and Lua error in Module:parameters at line 95: Parameter 1 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "pmh" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF. is a real word. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 19:39, 21 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@AryamanA Sanskrit has another word ছল্লী (challī, offspring) and Assamese has its cognate ছলি (soli, child, offspring). Sagir Ahmed Msa (talk) 07:12, 22 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
