Does this derive from Chinese 獎賞, 嘉獎, or 嘉賞? 71.66.97.228 23:17, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- giải ("prize") is regarded as a native word which seems to be derived from the sense "ribbon" (Chữ Nôms 𦃿, 𦄂, 繲). It's possible that it is influenced by 嘉 (SV gia) (or even derived from 嘉, with some changes in both final and tone). Hbrug 09:54, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
