夾

1. (Teochew) clip; clamp (I don't know how to phrase this but it's exclusively things that can pinch your skin and probably hurt you if that makes sense)

   夾囝／夹囝 [Teochew]  ―  ngiab⁸gian² [Peng'im]  ―  small clip
   a 夾 ngiab8 is different than a 夾 giab8. a 毛夾 is pronounced like "mo5 giab8" and it just means something like a hair claw because it can't pinch your skin, if you say "mo5 ngiab8" I would imagine like a tweezer.

2. (Teochew) to pinch; to clamp
   For objects, if you are clamping something permanently (kinda) like a microphone stand, then it's "ngiab8", if you're using "ngiab8" on things like paper or food packaging, which is not permanent, then it's "giab8", but in the same time "ngiab8" wouldn't really be wrong but it may implies that you're storing it more permanently. (I might be making things up)
   For people, if a door shut on your fingers, they got "giab8" by the door, but if it shuts on one side of your arm, or somehow your fingers if you taped your skin to the door frame I guess, like how two fingers would pinch, (no bones damaged) then it got "ngiab8" by the door, also I would use "giab8" personally for hair because I suppose you can't really pinch it the way it grows. (I'm just making things up again)

• 還 huan¹: is pronounced as hang¹, only as huang¹ in few scenarios occasionally but is still interchangeable with hang¹ me thinks.

• 遐: is pronounced as hian³ when it means that (to a given extent or degree), as in

  块物遐孬啊？ [Teochew, simp.]

  go³ mêh⁸ hian³ mo² a⁷? [Peng'im]

  Is [it] that bad? (這/個 this/that before 塊 is commonly omitted)

  and hia² when it means then (in that case), as in

• 物: is pronounced as muêh⁸ as a verb, like

  物乜個？／物乜个？ [Teochew]  ―  muêh⁸ meh⁴ gai⁵? [Peng'im]  ―  Do what?

  and mêh⁸ in every other scenario.

• 垃圾 nah⁴ sab⁴: ugly. I feel like 垃圾 is derived from 鏖糟 because they sound alike while having the undertone of being garbage (completely random guess that I thought of as I was writing this); Personally, I use 垃圾 for objects more, and 鏖糟 for people more but they're interchangeable. Also my ranking of words for ugliness: 孬睇<<垃圾<鏖糟<<野樣
