Etymology[edit]

Sino-Vietnamese word from 迷惑, composed of (to confuse) and (to confuse), from Chinese 迷惑 (míhuò, to confound), perhaps confused with the similar-sounding 魅惑 (mèihuò, mị hoặc, to allure). Compare Japanese 迷惑 (meiwaku, nuisance) and Japanese 魅惑 (miwaku, allure).
