From the Japanese 兄弟 (kyōdai きょうだい), from Middle Chinese 兄弟 (xüæng-dèj "brothers"), from Old Chinese 兄弟 (*m̥rang-lˁəjʔ), from ("elder brother") + ("younger brother").
