trad. (陸梁)
simp. (陆梁)

Etymology[edit]

Lingnan
In "Correct Meanings of the Historian's Records" (史記正義), Zhang Shoujie implies that the toponym originates from the local peoples' ethnonym, for which he proposes an apparently folk-etymology:
嶺南山陸強梁陸梁 [Classical Chinese, trad.]
岭南山陆强梁陆梁 [Classical Chinese, simp.]
From: 8th century, 張守節, 史記正義
lǐngnán zhī rén duō chù shānlù qí xìng qiángliáng gù yuē lùliáng [Pinyin]
Peoples in Lingnan mostly dwell in the mountainous inland ( "陸"); they are naturally strong and violent (qiángliáng "強"); hence the appellation Lùliáng ("陸梁")
