Etymology[edit]

Attested in Records of Baiyue (越絕書):

須慮須慮 [Classical Chinese, trad.]
须虑须虑 [Classical Chinese, simp.]
Zhì xūlǜ zhě, yuèrén wèi chuán wèi xūlǜ. [Pinyin]
It is spoken ‘to renovate the sorases’, since Baiyue people refer to boats as soras.

Possibly from some descendants of Proto-Tai *C̬.rwɯəᴬ. See Thai เรือ (rʉʉa) for more cognates.
